At Van de Velde Packaging Group, our mission is to build a dynamic packaging group. Through a strategic buy & build approach, we aim to diversify our portfolio across niche markets, specializing in fiber-based packaging solutions in Europe, Turkey, China, and America. We are committed to integrating acquired entities seamlessly, leveraging synergies, and fostering a culture of knowledge, skill, and trust.

At Van de Velde Packaging, we believe in a culture of openness and integrity. That means everyone should feel safe to raise questions or report concerns about potential misconduct. Whether it’s fraud, discrimination, harassment or other violations, we encourage people to speak up. Reports can be made confidentially and even anonymously and every case will be carefully followed up. We do not tolerate any form of retaliation against persons reporting concerns in good faith.

UN Global Compact Membership

Since 25 November 2024, Van de Velde Packaging has been a proud member of the UN Global Compact. By joining, we committed to the Ten Principles on human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption, as well as the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. Starting in 2025, we will annually submit our Communication on Progress (CoP), showing how we integrate these principles into our strategy, culture and daily operations.

Key SDG's

We see the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a compass for our sustainability journey. This global framework, launched in 2015, defines 17 priorities to build a better future for current and next generations by 2030. At Van de Velde Packaging, we used a structured methodology based on our double materiality assessment to identify the goals most relevant to our impact. From this, we focus on six Key SDGs: 4, 8, 12, 13, 16 and 17.

Sustainability Governance Model

Our sustainability governance model ensures that environmental, social and economic goals are fully embedded in our business strategy and daily operations. It guides how we work, make decisions and support our customers in meeting their own sustainability commitments, particularly by reducing their carbon footprint. The model is built on four levels of responsibility and action: Board of Directors (Level 1), Sustainability Steerco (Level 2), Sustainability Projects (Level 3) and Sustainability Meetings (Level 4).

DMA Double Materiality Assessment

A Double Materiality Assessment (DMA) highlights sustainability issues that matter most, both in terms of our company’s performance and our impact on people and the planet. In 2024, Van de Velde Packaging carried out its first DMA, fully aligned with the EU’s CSRD requirements. By combining internal analysis with stakeholder engagement, we mapped the key environmental and social topics that shape our long-term sustainability strategy and guide our next steps.

Carbon footprint scope 123

In line with the GHG Protocol, we measure our emissions across the full value chain, from our own operations to our wider supply chain. In late 2024, Van de Velde Packaging completed its first carbon footprint for FY2023, followed by a second footprint for FY2024. These insights mark an important step in monitoring, understanding and ultimately reducing our Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions in line with our sustainability ambitions.

Climate Transition Plan

Tackling climate change requires collective action. Van de Velde Packaging takes its role seriously. We aim to develop a Climate Transition Plan, outlining how we reduce emissions, engage our suppliers and embed sustainable practices across the value chain. This plan will serve as a roadmap to align our operations with climate science and stakeholder expectations, marking an important milestone in our long-term sustainability journey.

Policies/ Targets

In 2024, Van de Velde Packaging began developing group-wide policies that reflect our current situation, our material topics from the Double Materiality Assessment and the expectations of stakeholders. We have already introduced a Whistleblower Procedure, Code of Conduct, Supplier Code of Conduct, Health & Safety, Environment policy, setting a clear framework for our future targets.

Sustainability Academy

To keep pace with rising sustainability demands, Van De Velde Packaging Group launched its Sustainability Academy at the end of 2024. The Academy is designed for all teams and sites, offering clear guidance on our sustainability roadmap. But it goes beyond training: it’s a strategic driver, directly linked to performance goals. By creating a shared language and mindset around sustainability, the Academy unites our people and embeds sustainability into daily business practice.

Group sustainability projects

At Van de Velde Packaging, sustainability is not an add-on. It is built into our business activities. Our two key differentiators, ‘Renubox’ and ‘Packaging Solutions’, give us the levers to deliver innovative, tailored and sustainable solutions that help customers stay ahead. By embedding sustainability deeply and strategically into everything we do, we create value not only for our business, but also for our customers, stakeholders, and the wider environment.

Group EcoVadis Rating

While some of our sites already hold an EcoVadis rating, our goal is to have our first Group-wide EcoVadis assessment. This will strengthen our commitment to transparency, responsible practices and prove our Environmental, Social, Ethical and Governance progress to our stakeholders.

CSRD

Due to the new agreed CSRD thresholds in December 2025, Van de Velde Packaging Group is not in scope any more to comply with the CSRD regulation.

Sustainability Software

In 2025, Van de Velde Packaging acquired a group-wide sustainability software solution Osapiens. This platform supports data collection, monitoring and reporting across all our sites. By centralizing information, it enables a consistent, transparent and data-driven approach to managing our sustainability performance and strengthening accountability at every level of the Group. The implementation of the different available modules will be done gradually.

 

FSC

The FSC Label (= Forest Stewardship Council) is the world’s most trusted mark for sustainable forestry. As Van de Velde Packaging we are fully committed to FSC by aiming to have all our cardboard and paper related converting entities being FSC certified.

EUDR

The European Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) aims to avoid worldwide deforestation and forest degradation, resulting in worldwide lowering carbon emissions and reducing biodiversity losses. 
Van de Velde Packaging will comply with the EUDR by end December 2026. We acquired a specific EUDR software from our partner Osapiens to support our due diligence governance and risk management.
