Sustainability Academy
Why a Sustainability Academy?
In response to fast-changing regulation, rising market expectations and our own ambitions, Van de Velde Packaging Group launched its Sustainability Academy at the end of 2024. This initiative is a cornerstone for building shared understanding, structured knowledge and cross-functional alignment across all sites and departments.
Sustainability today is complex and fast-moving. It touches every layer of our operations and value chain: from environmental targets to ethical procurement, from social impact to regulatory compliance. Every function plays a role. To manage this complexity, a structured approach to learning and engagement is essential.
The Academy ensures that key stakeholders (Board members, ExCom, site managers, functional teams and selected employees) gain a clear understanding of:
- The full sustainability picture and how its building blocks connect
- Van de Velde Packaging Group’s priorities and roadmap
- How sustainability is embedded across Finance, Sales, HR, Operations, QESH, Supply Chain, Procurement, IT, R&D, Marketing and Communication
Knowledge as a key enabler
The Academy equips our people with the knowledge, language and confidence to respond to sustainability questions, whether from customers, suppliers, investors or peers. Sustainability is no longer the responsibility of a single team; it requires informed collaboration across every part of our business.
Content is delivered through live sessions and recorded video modules, offering flexibility across sites, functions and schedules. These materials also support external stakeholders, helping them understand our sustainability journey and commitments.
Supporting strategic objectives
The Academy is more than an educational platform. It is directly tied to performance goals, fostering a common sustainability culture and language across functions and geographies. Because a sustainable future doesn’t happen by chance. It’s built by people who understand it.
